Week 7, thing #17, Library 2.0

I like Michael Stephens: http://www.oclc.org/nextspace/002/3.htm
He says Librarian 2.0 plans for their users and embrace Web 2.0 tools.
I've got to say that the whole 25 things exercise is embracing just those ideas.
I don't really know what will change in the library in the next 10 years but I suspect that there will be changes. And that's a good thing.

Week 3, Thing #8, blog about technology/blog about a coworkers post

a) Technology -- you really can't get any better than a PVR! OK, call me shallow but I haven't seen a TV commercial in 7 years!
b) Another's blog -- Emerald Eyes -- I know who you are!!! ...earbuds - scissors - where to plug in?... Very, very, funny.

Week 7, thing #17, Library 2.0

My brain hurts. This is the kind of content I need to read slowly, read again... ponder. The resource I could make the most sense of was Wikipedia - Library 2.0. I get it. I agree. To me, it means keeping abreast of technology and making any and all information and resources available to customers in whatever way they want to access them. Long live and evolve the library!

Week 7, thing 15 Delicious

This I like! Wow, by searching tags and going to high numbered hits you can really find some good stuff, fast. I can use this for children's programming/storytimes. To bemoan time as always, I wish I had some more time to look around.

Week 10, last thing, final thoughts

My favourites were online image generator, Del.icio.us, and Wikis.
My least favourites were twitter and podcasts – of course that’s just me! I also had some blog challenges. I was already using Flickr, Facebook, RSS, and YouTube.
Regarding LLL, I definitely learned some things – but it was really on the fly.
Benefitting; I hope that if people ask me for help on these topics I’ll be able to do so.
I might be able to make use of a Wiki. There’s nothing I would suggest that we didn’t look at.
I'd like to participate if something like this is offered again. However, I would suggest that having a number of group, scheduled, workshops would be helpful - both for dedicated time and for sharing. Thanks for the memories!

Week 10, thing 23, Netlibrary

Great resource. Didn't have the first title I wanted, but I found one I'd like: False Memory by Dean Koontz.

Week 10, thing 22, podcasts

I added to my Google Reader: Uncontrolled Vocabulary. http://feeds.feedburner.com/uncontrolledvocabulary
Interesting opinions, another tonn of information.
Gotta love itunes:)

Week 10, thing 21, YouTube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJlkplvYdgA
Now, a really good librarian would have helped the Cookie Monster find out where the best cookies are!
What do I like about the site? Soooooo much to see.
What don't I like? Looooots of junk to waste time.
The Calgary libraries posting is awesome -- any actors at WPL? YouTube and they will come???
Cheers,
Sue

Week 9, Wikis, thing 20 part B, sandbox fun

Cool; nice to hear some people get to go to real restaurants. (ha ha).
Posted to the restaurant and books section - easy peasy:)
Cheers,
Sue

Week 9, Thing 20, Wikis

Love how easy to use wikis are. I've posted to WPL's and I've read many of the recommended titles. Out in the big wide world, of course accuracy is an issue. I wonder if we could use it to communicate within the branch...Some folks aren't always in and some folks only work occasionally...hmmm again.
Cheers,
Sue
